I have so many projects and rooms to do in my house, I dont know where to start
I have a problem flitting from one thing to the next without finishing the thing I started.
I have, however, nearly finished my daughters room,
I wanted surfer girl/tropical theme, she liked that idea, but loved rock/Hannah Montana
So I kinda did both, and surprisingly it looks great,if you love pink, which she does,
I painted the walls white and stenciled them with a hibiscus design, looks fab and bright.
The bottom half of the room has been wallpapered with a textured pink paper
The furnitue is just basic malm in white from ikea, very practical for a pre-teen, and shows off all her bits and pieces nicely
There are a few quirky things in her room, like the pink guitar CD holder on the wall,
I also added some hawaiian style fringing to the top of the pelmet above the cupboard, I wasn,t sure if it looked a bit tacky, but then I saw a similar idea to mine in one of Jane Coslicks cottages, I love her designs
The Hawaiian fringing bought from party supply store

This is the Shrimp, a Jane coslick cottage, check out her web site, its great, the Hawiian style pelmet looks great, similar to what I have done above the wardrodes, notice the table in this picture which has been painted with a beach scene, I have a similar style and size of table in my attic, I think I might attempt to do something like that with it, I dont know where I will put it though, will think of somewhere
Another idea from my room which I thought was cute was a home made canvas.I am a keen scrapbooker so always have stuff lying around. I sewed some pieces of tropical patterned paper together, added some pictures, a surfer girl and hula dancer, and finished it with nice bright paper flowers, then glued it onto a small canvas, it looks brill, cost next to nothing and you can theme it to your room
The canvas I made to match the room
So thats it nearly done, not bad considering I painted it last year while she was staying with her Aunt in Scotland.
Now I only need a blind, I might add some fringing to that, and thats it done
